What is Neurofeedback?
*Neurofeedback is not a stand alone treatment. Individuals who receive neurofeedback should also receive help to address the issues that caused the imbalance so that the brain can stay calm and focus.*
Our office offers NeurOptimal® form of neurofeedback and is designed to work with the brain as an information-detection system. By simply giving the brain information about it's own activity - what is has just done - NeurOptimal® helps the brain re-organize itself, engaging it's own intrinsic healing wisdom.
During a session, information about your brain is collected (that's the neuro-part) and then is fed back to your brain by brief pauses in sounds (that's the feedback part.)
A NeurOptimal® neurofeedback trainer will place sensors on your head that will be connected to the NeurOptimal® system, so the system can receive the information from your central nervous system (CNS).
Once the program starts, the NeurOptimal® program will play various music while receiving information from your CNS. Based on the information it receives, it will cause a brief pause or skip in the music to make your brain aware of the re-organization needed.
